We can’t make this happen without you so bring friends, picnics, and pets on a leash to Huntsville’s most accessible concert series and join us under the water tower for eight weeks in the Spring and eight weeks in the Fall. Concerts on the Dock are always free to attend though we do charge $5 for parking on property. Please Carpool!
Full Concerts on the Dock Schedule

APRIL 19 (FRIDAY) - Quantaphonics @ East Dock - 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  Join us under the water tower for a concert on the dock with local favorite Quantaphonics. This 11-piece psychedelic funk band is a true stand out. Featuring four vocalists and all too rare classical wind and brass instruments, like trumpet, trombone, saxophone and flute, give the band a driving and upbeat sound reminiscent of  Chicago. This is an exciting and unique group you will not want to miss.

APRIL 26 (FRIDAY) -Taylor Hunnicutt @ East Dock - 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  Join us for Concerts on the Dock with Taylor Hunnicutt! Taylor Hunnicutt is a singer and songwriter based in Birmingham, Alabama. With roots in Blues, Soul, Country and Americana, Taylor’s performances cross genre lines and give audiences a unique and authentic storytelling experience.  “With a voice that sounds like Stevie Nicks if she had been raised in the Black Belt, Hunnicutt bends genres between country, soul, blues and rock but settles sweetly in the Americana style of Tift Merritt, Ryan Adams or Amanda Shires.” – Michael Tomberlin, Alabama News Center

MAY 3 (FRIDAY)Tremble Weeds @ East Dock - 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Join us for an outdoor this evening with the Tremble Weeds! This two-piece Indie rock n’ roll band, consisting of Dylan Fox and Nick Barnett, have an impressive rock catalog with elements of blues and rockabilly; think Flat Duo Jets, White Stripes, and The Gories. The duo have been playing together since they were kids. In 2015 they moved to Joshua Tree and got right to work printing demos and eventually recorded two albums that are available on vinyl. When they are not playing gigs all over the the great state of California, you can find them up late practicing in the garage, just like they did in high school.

MAY 10 (FRIDAY) Rob Aldridge & the Proponents @ East Dock - 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  Join us for Concerts on the Dock with Rob Aldridge & The Proponents, an Americana rock n’ roll band based out of North Alabama. Their goal is simple: write well-crafted songs and consistently deliver fun, authentic, relentless rock shows. Rob Aldridge & the Proponents is a trio comprised of talents: Rob Aldridge (vocals, guitar), Rob Malone (vocals, guitar), and Stone Anderson (vocals, bass). All seasoned musicians, their sound is tight and high energy with a broad dynamic range. According to AL.com contributor Matt Wake, “The world really doesn’t need any more lukewarm Americana music right now. What the world needs is some inspired new rock songs, and Rob Aldridge & The Proponents are doing their part… You can tell this music has roots, but the songs never sound like tributes.”

MAY 17 (FRIDAY) Russell Cook & the Sweet Teeth @ East Dock -  6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
The Sweet Teeth began as Russell Cook and Scotty Knight getting together to play some songs on a Wednesday, and then the next Wednesday, and then every Wednesday. When a neighbor suggested inviting his friend Jeremy Clark to sit in on drums, it quickly became something very different than two guys with guitars. Performing new songs not yet recorded, and drawing from the extensive catalog of songs written over the course of six albums for Cook’s other project, Little Country Giants, Russell Cook & the Sweet Teeth explore the electric side of traditional music, folk and blues, jazz and honkytonk, rock and roll, and old time. The Sweet Teeth try to push it to see where it’ll go, using songs as the structure, but staying open to improvisation and playing in the moment.

MAY 24 (FRIDAY) - Codename Underground @ East Dock - 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
Join us for Concerts on the Dock with a selection of performers from CodeName Underground. The line up will consist Birmingham duo Shaheed and DJ Supreme, They call me Bstill, Ray the Sanger, and Ray Ray Russell.
Shaheed and DJ Supreme: Communicating Vessels’ recording artists Shaheed and DJ Supreme are practitioners of traditional boom-bap hip hop. They’ve released two critically acclaimed LPs (Health Wealth & Knowledge of Self and Scholar Warrior-The Remix Album) which showcases Shaheed’s sharp lyrical prowess and DJ Supreme’s soulful production. Be on the look out for their highly anticipated third LP Knowledge Rhythm and Understanding soon to be released on Communicating Vessels.

Venue
Land Trust’s Three Caves | 901 Kennamer Dr SE, Huntsville, AL 35801
Three Caves is located within the Land Trust’s Monte Sano Nature Preserve and has become one of the most unique event venues in North Alabama. For the past 12 years, the Concerts at Three Caves series has played host to such award winning entertainers as Delta Rae, Moon Taxi, Tom Braxton and Grammy Award winners, The SteelDrivers, Claire Lynch and the Legendary Muscle Shoals Review. The “not so secret” 700 seat outdoor venue is a former limestone quarry conveniently located just two miles from downtown Huntsville and gets its name from the three cave openings that accentuate and surround the venue. Three Caves has a storied entertainment history including where the band Kansas filmed their music ballad “Reason to Believe” and scenes from the 1979 post-apocalyptic move “Ravagers” were shot.
Events are held in the “bowl” outside the mine’s three large openings, which offers a comfortable ~55°F temperature year-round. The stage, surrounded on three sides by limestone rock walls, provides an unforgettable backdrop and a one-of-a-kind experience for concert-goers. As the sunset sets and the lights begin to accentuate the interior of the three caves and the exterior of the bowl, one gets the true sense that they are in store for a truly magical musical experience. Proceeds from the events held at Three Caves help the Land Trust in furthering their goals of land preservation and conservation in north Alabama.
In an interview with national music critic and Huntsville resident Matt Wake, Texas-based, saxophonist Tom Braxton described Concerts at Three Caves as “a unique venue”. “The acoustics are great, the audience is up-close-and-personal; I love playing settings like that”. “When I went out front while we were sounding checking, I was like, ‘Wow, this is like some symphony shell in Australia or something.” Tom’s sentiments are echoed by most every entertainer that has played the venue.

On Sunday, Panoply celebrates a day of Alabama Music, featuring a full-day lineup of artists from North Alabama, including the growing force that is the Lamont Landers Band. On Sunday evening, Panoply will welcome Florence’s own Grammy Award-winning artist, John Paul White, to close out the festival on the Showcase Stage. John Paul White, formerly of duo The Civil Wars, launched his solo career in 2016 with the album Beulah. He is co-owner and founder of Single Lock Records in Florence, Alabama. His sound appeals to fans of indie rock, Americana music, and folk. In early April he will be releasing his latest album, The Hurting Kind.

Panoply Art Marketplace by Anna Anderson
Art Marketplace: The Art Marketplace, presented by Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Alabama, provides prime shopping in a beautiful setting in and around the spring. This year the juried Art Marketplace will welcome more than 100 visual artists. One of the most popular features of the festival, this year’s Art Marketplace will welcome artists from 19 states, with some traveling from as far as Oregon and North Dakota to join us in Big Spring Park. Nearly half of this year’s artists come from across the state of Alabama.
Arts in Action and Community Art: Regional artists will offer demonstrations of their crafts at Panoply’s Arts in Action tents, where festival goers can get a first-hand look at the process of indigo dying, quilting, screen-printing, and mosaic. Festival goers of all ages will also get to stretch their creative muscles with hands-on community art activities. First Baptist Church will be returning to Panoply again this year with more tiles from the iconic Cosmic Christ mosaic. Together with festiva lgoers, they’ll create a new mosaic based on Van Gogh’s “Starry Starry Night” to be placed at the US Space and Rocket Center after the festival.
Panoply Poster Artist: Each year, Arts Huntsville commissions an artist to create a piece of art that captures the spirit of the festival and the community. This year’s Panoply Poster Artist is Lowe Mill artist Chris Wade. Chris’s vibrant imagination is displayed through his detailed and distinctive paintings of rockets and the galaxy. While pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design, Chris discovered his love of watercolor and ink painting. It was there, through the prompt of a professor, that he began creating what is now his signature work – depicting the abandoned rockets with trees growing through and around them that kept popping up in his dreams. He has since had two museum shows, including the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art, and was the featured artist for the Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop.
“On the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, we couldn’t think of a more appropriate artist to capture our community’s creative and innovative spirit than Chris Wade,” said Allison Dillon-Jauken, Arts Huntsville Executive Director. “His ethereal, surrealist take on rockets and space perfectly capture how our STEM and art communities intertwine here in Huntsville and North Alabama.”
Chris will be selling his original paintings at Panoply Arts Festival, and festival goers will be able to purchase merchandise featuring his artwork at the Panoply Stores at the festival. Arts Huntsville will also be offering a limited number of signed posters for the public to purchase.
Hands-on Activities: Panoply’s STEAM Street, sponsored by Region’s Bank, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lunar Landing with space-themed activities:
  • MDA’s Rocket Rules! Sponsored by RUAG Space USA – Using plastic tubes, festival goers will create rockets to investigate trajectory, weight and balance and center of gravity and test their designs. They will also learn how scientists and engineers use filters to identify different energies of light to learn more about materials and physical objects.
  • Huntsville STEAMworks’ Launch Pad, sponsored by Toyota Motor Manufacturing – After making their very own rocket from straws and cardstock, festival goers will be able to launch them in the park.
  • DAU’s Cosmic Coms – Festival goers will learn how astronauts talk to us from the moon when sound can’t travel through space. Explore amplitude, frequency, and phase to discover how they used radio waves to move voices, music, and data through the vacuum of space.
  • Janet’s Planets and HAL5’s “What’s Your Mission?” sponsored by National Space Club – Every space mission is unique and has its own unique patch designed by the astronauts. Festival goers can get creative to design their very own mission patch.
  • Huntsville Ballet’s Dancing Planets, sponsored by Avadian Credit Union– Festival goers will learn about rotation and revolution in both the solar system and ballet.
Also along STEAM Street, festival goers can view the US Space and Rocket Center’s Rockets on Parade – a celebration of NASA’s next great spacecraft, the SLS Rocket. With dozens of rockets decorated and displayed by companies from across the Tennessee Valley, festival goers will see a creative interpretation of NASA’s upcoming journey into space.
In celebration of Alabama’s 200th birthday Panoply will create the ultimate Alabama bicentennial experience at the Panoply Bicentennial Village, sponsored by Boeing. This area will feature Panoply’s creative community art projects, all with a historical twist:
  • Big Spring Boats – The historic recreation of Ditto Landing’s ferry boat will be on-site at Panoply 2019 for festival goers to visit and learn about opportunities for ferry rides along the Tennessee River. Festival goers will also get to create their own cork boats to try out on the water at home.
  • Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild Discover Music, sponsored by Parkway Place Mall – The Symphony Guild’s popular “Discover Music” experience always introduces young people to musical instruments at Panoply. In 2019, Arts Huntsville is working with volunteers to incorporate a historical perspective to include historical instruments and music of the period to “Discover Music” from 1819 to 2019.
  • Lily Flagg Moo Masks, sponsored by Davidson Technologies – Celebrate Huntsville’s beloved bovine, Lily Flagg. Festival goers can create and decorate fun festival masks in honor of Lily Flagg.
  • Historic Downtown Huntsville Mini City, sponsored by Aero Thermo Technology – Using historic images of downtown Huntsville, festival goers can recreate our historic downtown from the early 1800s using recycled painted boxes. This activity serves as a living history and urban design lesson created by the community during the festival.
  • Huntsville Botanical Garden Guild’s Plants and Native American Art – Volunteers from Huntsville Botanical Garden Guild are identifying historic plants native to Alabama in the 1800s. Festival goers will take home a piece of living history to plant in their home garden, while learning about our region’s prehistoric Native American art.
  • Alabama Masterpieces: 200 Years of Beauty, hosted at the Huntsville Museum of Art – This year the Huntsville Museum of Art Academy will be open its doors to Panoply guests to come in and make-and-take their own piece of art. Festival goers can step inside the museum to discover Alabama’s state symbols of the Monarch Butterfly, Camellia and Saturn V Rocket and create a work of art celebrating Alabama’s 200th birthday.
Military Salute Night: Another Panoply tradition continues on Friday, April 26th.  Military Salute Night, sponsored by Dynetics, will welcome active duty military, Armed Forces reserves and their dependents to the park for a free evening of entertainment.
Panoply Beer and Festival Food: Festival goers can enjoy local tastes along with Panoply’s diverse array of art and music. The popular Craft Beer Tent returns, featuring beer from breweries across the region. This year it will once again feature a special Panoply Beer, brewed specifically for the festival by long-time festival partner Straight To Ale. Panoply will also showcase a great assortment of festival food and food trucks.
Festival Seating: Enjoy music and performances at three outdoor stages with open-air seating. Festival patrons are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to sit on as they enjoy the lineup of Panoply performers. You can also purchase branded festival chairs in the Panoply Stores.
Fireworks: Friday and Saturday night end the night with a stunning fireworks display sponsored by Delta Research.
